First Week in Review
Well everybody, it was a pretty good week. A week that exceeded my high expectations. I knew that UMS would be able to bounce back to where it was before I left unannounced and decided to work on a redesign for a month, I just didn’t think it would be this quickly. So far the highest traffic day was Thursday, which saw roughly 3K unique visitors. Now that is not a lot, but considering that it was a mere 2 days after the re-launch I found it to be impressive.
Other interesting tid-bits, the first book to be sold at the book store? The Zen of CSS Design : Visual Enlightenment for the Web, which I just got my own copy in the mail a few days ago, and though I have not read much, I skimmed the pages and looked at all the imagery. Any CSS enthusiast, web designer, standards advocate, or nerd in general should have this on their coffee table, or in my case my coffee computer desk. So if you haven’t bought this book yet, do it now!
Where’s that stuff you were talking about?
It’s on its way. Due to an error by the lead programmer on the project, which that would be me (just didn’t want to admit my mistake), news was unable to be published correctly until I hammered out a bug. Also, as a few emails suggested, I should have entry navigation so you are not always hitting the back button, now you can cruise the galleries at warp speed by using the previous/next navigation on each entry page (it’s right across from the date if you missed it).
The interview from that mystery person I mentioned is not ready yet, no one’s fault really. When you are conducting an interview by emails there are certain problems that you can run into. The main one being that, I sent the interview to this person. And two days later they emailed me back stating that they haven’t heard from me and wanted to know where the questions are, and well I forwarded it again, and still no reply. Probably because he is in Texas with all the other lucky SXSW goers.
Super Neat Contest Coming Soon
So here’s the deal, I felt as if I should give something back to you the visitor, some times fresh content daily is not enough to show that you really appreciate your readers. So I am going to hold a contest here soon. What is the contest, nothing really, just fill out a form with your name and email, and hope your name gets pulled from the digital hat. I was going to do a contest with something more related to web design using CSS and standards, but I want this contest to be open to every visitor. What’s the prize? That is a secret too, but it will be a nice treat.
Stay tuned to the site, when the contest comes it will not be in the news feeds, so that is my sneaky way of making you actually visit the site…muhahah!

w00h! A contest! I’ll keep visiting then!
Oh! I wouldn’t mind a contest!
Mmm… contests. I for one hope the prize is Ramen Noodles.
You can never have enough Ramen Noodles, right?
