C.DRIC.BE/GIUM - 01
![]()
Normally I dismiss one-page designs out of hand, because spreading a design across multiple pages of a site is so much more difficult. One-page design just isn’t on the same level.
Issue 01 of C.DRIC.BE/GIUM, however, really caught my eye — mostly, I think, because it borders on the abstract while still remaining absolutely usable. A great feat. I don’t know that I’ve seen any abstract sites that, if they looked good, actually worked well. This one does both.
What do you think?

Upon first seeing the thumbnail here on UnmatchedStyle, I initially thought the design looked very nice and snazzy - but when looking at the actual site I was a little more disappointed.
Whilst the look and feel is quite nice, I think the site is heavily let down with its typography. The randomly sized arial font looks completely out-of-place - EXCEPT for the at the bottom of the far left column which is in all-caps. This certainly works better than any other text on the page.
The only other recommendation would be to tweak the images as this could save a lot of bandwidth. An example of this being the central ring-binder graphic. The one used is the full height of the column, whereas this really should be cut down to just one “ring” and then repeated vertically. The same goes for a lot of other backgrounds where background-colors could be used instead of including this in the graphics. Indeed - if you turn images off the entire page is white and unreadable which is another reason why background-colors should be used on the columns.
Overall though it’s still a nice one page site that could be REALLY nice with a few teaks here and there.
I gave it a 5.
I agree with Chris; the thumbnail looks attractive but the website it’s self is a big let down, where are the links?
The site owner likes color, okay, I get that, but they really do need to take a few lessons from web standards.
The navigation is key to any websites success, a simple improvement would be to underline the links and make them stand out, they almost seem like an after-thought.
Afraid I only gave it a 3.
Agreed. Colors and overall layout is nice but typography is big let down.
