CLEXUS NEW MEDIA
![]()
There is a lot of things about the CLEXUS NEW MEDIA design that I find to be absolutely brilliant. Not only does it come at you sporting a design with a color theme that seems to fall in the grunge era of design that most of thought we had outlived, but it has one of the coolest concepts of using a Flash background I have ever seen.
It is not the whole background that is Flash. No, if a user does not have Flash installed they will still see the tree portion of the background. It will just be the moving birds that they miss out on. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about and do have Flash installed, disable the styles. You see the flash of the birds landing on nothing? To me that’s pretty clever.

I agree on the awesome creativity when it comes to what they did to the background. The transparency is quite cool as well. Looking past that however leaves the viewer with a rather standard Joomla look. Kinda boxy with not much going on inside the boxes. Typography looks kinda barebones too. The larger texts could definitely use some linespacing and a point or two larger text.
This killer background idea really cries for a better job on the rest of the site in my opinion.
Very nice! One of the most integrated, releveant and pleasantly unobtrusive uses of sound on a website I have ever encountered!
Yeah this is very cool website. They using Joomla/Mambo CMS too. And it is very hard making with Joomla. How they made like this I don’t know. Every page bground is moving. Also transparent img idea is pertty cool.
This ste is xhtml and css valid site. But they are using Flash. Flash usually giving error for validitation. But this site doesn’t have an error.
It’s a stunningly beautiful design.
Flash can validate quite easily using the satay method:

uses the tag rather than .
Very nice use of flash background, but i agree with the comments about the typography…
Ander is right. The problem with Joomla and many other similar CMSes is that all sites built with it suffer from the ‘made with CMS X’-look. Plone sites often have the same generic look disease.
These people did a remarkable job creating a Joomla site that doesn’t look like 10.000 other sites. This is why this site definitely deserves it’s place on Unmatched Style.
I just think that this concept could be used in a much nicer template if it weren’t for Joomla enforcing all kinds of constraints.
I know these guys from the internet and the www.greatpixels.com. Their jobs iconising the quality.
lastly about aliyar firat, the designer of this website.I can only say that for him…
The man who forges the web
I’ll be checking their projects.
haha I love the flash background, oddly enough it works.
I had made my comments clear about this site on other showcases too. The creativity is near perfect, but I will have to agree with the previous comments about the boxy layout.
Nice design but a big pet peeve of mine is the text upsizing issue.
Yeah, nice site and stuff. But am I the only one to notice how SLOW it is? How unbelieveably laggy the cursor is? It’s impossible for me to use the website so eventually it outweights all the nice-looks.
Hmmm.. no lag here but it does start up the fans in my machine. Looking into it I discovered this site results in 40% CPU usage on my dual 2.7Ghz G5.
That’s wel ehm… crazy!
This site makes me want to shoot the damn birds.
I think someone needs a new machine. I’m viewing sites on an ancient 5 year old Compaq Presario of a mere 667MHz and had no fans starting up when I viewed the site.
That being said, I agree with what someone else said… once you get past the kickazz background, there isn’t really much more to the design. The boxiness is irritating, and the lack of a logo in the *traditional spot* is irritating as well. I kept trying to look in the upper left corner to remember the name of the site and had to remind myself that it was in the lower right hand corner.
Also, I found the navigation much to be desired. I was very confused when I kept arriving at the same page. That’s when I realized that many of the links on the home page link to the same “products” page. Tsk tsk…
Might be cool to do something like this with a fish aquarium in the background and the content area is like 80-90% transparent so you can see the fish swimming around behind.
I love that
David: And how in the world would that make a good website?
It’s like kids seeing a TV for the first time… “the colors! it’s moving! his face is funny!”
Christian: I can make anything work. That’s why I get paid lots of money and you don’t.
David: Wow, cheap shot. I could waste my time arguing with you but I prefer to leave it at this, so everyone who visits this page can see your stupid comment and laugh at you.
Back to the topic everyone.
@David & Christian: What are you talking about. Please don’t write this kind of comment on this site.
So, Clexus is very strengh site. They are using Joomla and css, xhmtl and flash backround idea. Every page different template, this is cool idea too. I like clexus. I don’t know What does it mean “Clexus ” but name and logo is cool too.
I play Joomla/Mambo before. It’s very hard to made this kind of site with Joomla. Joomla Doesnt support xhtml but I think teht hack joomla source.
Whatever this is cool site. Congrat.
I saw this trick done elsewhere a year back on www.breezemedia.co.uk where I think they did a better job of the birds. (The breeze site is linked on US too).
This looks more of a looping animation whereas on the breeze site the birds were random and natural looking.
A really nice site though but I’m not a fan of the box layout.
Massively overrated. 3/10. Sorry.
Nice Design but the functionality is not optimized for barrier-free access. For example, If you change the font-size in your browser you only get unreadable text…
3/10 sorry.

Nice design, very unique in my opinion. The birds do make you want to shoot them but they are well done. They are interactive by the way, you can chase them away from their perching. I agree it’s a very clever nicely designed site, despite a few mentioned weaknesses. I didn’t realize it was Joomla, wasn’t even familiar with joomla before this site, so I don’t really think that’s too bad of a thing. Most people familiar with a CMS will always point out “Hey, they’re using that CMS.” My only beef would be, give me a stinking sound button, since my post is so long I can’t stand the bird noise anymore. :)
Totally unique design but I want to see more of your flash animations, because they are really one of the most creative flash animation I have encountered so far. Anything other than that I dont want to critisize because I just want to see creative and exiting web pages on the boring world wide web.Keep up the good work CLEXUS.A+++
Anyone have a link on how to use Flash as a bgrd in CSS? Been searching for quite sometime. Oh and it seems they have massively changed their site since this topic. But I rememebr the old one.
Massively overrated. The same technique was applied a while ago on the home page of www.promotetop.com where they used a similar flash background. The effect was even more impressive. For some reason they took it off.
