Cold Tree Press

Cold Tree Press

What can I say about Cold Tree Press that isn’t evident by looking at it? This site reeks of beauty. It is nowhere even near what can begin to be considered typical and did I mention it was beautiful?

The site obviously has the classy worn look which often times fails because of poor implementation. But in this case, Cold Tree Press, seems to be an exception with its ability to convey the design in a beautiful yet passive and understated yet bold design.

By mixing passive elements of design with progressive ones it comes off as something out of the “norm” and a bit unexpected. By mixing such a noticable and vibrant color with its otherwise pale colorization, it manages to state itself without becoming a distraction. Using the most vibrant color in the whitespace of the site is a clever technique on this design as it encourages the visitor to focus on the content. It screams at you so many times but your eyes end up focusing where they should.
