CSS Beauty (re-design)

CSS Beauty (re-design)

Don’t get it twisted ladies and gentleman, I’m still taking some time away…and these lazy reviewers better get off their asses or there will be no Unmatched Style Clause visiting their houses when Unmatched Christmas gets here. But, I thought I would put aside everything to take on this one personally. Which, a lot of people are going to think is weird…but I would like to be the first to introduce the new CSS beauty.

Some might not expect this because they would see it as me promoting my competition and even if I saw it that way; hands down I would still list this one. But CSS Beauty actually had a huge impact on this site as well, indirectly. It was one of my designs that got listed on CSS Beauty; it was the following I gained from that traffic that allowed me to promote Unmatched Style and have it grow quicker than I expected. So a huge thank you is in order there.

Now really what can I say about the design that doesn’t speak for itself? It’s bigger, it’s bolder, it’s better, and it’s a hell of a lot more bluer. Lots and lots of blue and let’s not forget the most important color on there…rusted orange (I know, many have you have read my reviews and know that I have a fetish with orange that you’ve probably gotten sick of by now).

For once I want to stray away from talking about the design and focus on the features. Trust me they are plentiful. CSS Monster? CSS Shuffle? Man — Giron, you’ve been a busy guy, huh?

But the design itself is still terrific, although it is the features that captivate me. With a new structure more attention is drawn to the news, while still marinating a great accent on the gallery entries themselves. The graphics are beautiful but not too overstated, keeping it easy to focus on the content of the site rather than design.

Anatoly - you can expect for me to rip this design next time Unmatched Style gets a face lift. If you don’t get that joke everyone, trust me its funny. Anyhow make sure to experience the site for yourself, but not too much and when you are done make sure to come back to Unmatched Style :P

these lazy reviewers better get off their asses or there will be no Unmatched Style

How can you say that? At least I should have gotten a special mention :p

On topic, To be honest something about this design isn’t really clicking for me, maybe because I’m seeing this on a 1600×1200 screen, so it just looks weird to me. I like the details, but I think it could be made more tight.

The design could use a little help from min-width and max-width, but otherwise it’s really great. And the CSS Monster section is awesome… maybe I’ll benefit from it someday.

It’s a stunningly beautiful design, and the added extra sections like Monster and Shuffle are inspired - all it needs now is a forum and I think it could begin to challenge Stylegala as the one-stop-shop showcase site.

One minor quibble - on the News section, the text doesn’t cope well with being resized.

i liked more previous ver, especially when I`ve got 800×600 resolution.

    The redesign looks really nice.

The only thing I don’t like is the fact that there is no way to look at the comments of entries that aren’t on the homepage (stuff in the gallery).

    Darius,
You have 800×600 resolution? You do have electricity right?

I don’t care for this redesign much. The colors are pleasant but stacking all the thumbnails on the right makes for an unbalanced layout. The arrangement of elements on the page doesn’t seem to have any rhyme or reason.

I think it looks pretty good, but I still liked the old css beauty design better. It seemed more appealing, but that’s just my 2 cents.

Good God, please wake me up when this small font “trend” finally dies.

Good work, the colors and the design are very nice.

Best of all, it doesn’t have incredibly awkward ads place in highly visible areas of the page.

    placed . . .

I like this one a lot better than the previous one. Brighter, more of a friendlier color to me.

I love the redesign. What is with the left margin though? It is odd reading the content on the far right. I love that it is different, is different good? In this case I am going to say yes. The site itself acts as a testimate to thinking outside the box with CSS.

Not even close to Stylegala in terms of design or usability.
