CSS Vault (re-design)
![]()
It was featured as the very first gallery entry to unmatched style, to pay homage to the creation that sparked such in an interest in gallery sites, and I now re-present it. But now under new management, means new direction and tastes; and thankfully the direction has managed to remain the same, but this time the taste is a little bit sweeter.
Upon hearing that Scrivs had sold The Vault, I was concerned for it — and still am to an extent — but Jacob G. has shown that he does have plans for The Vault and they come shining through with this clean, and super smooth re-design. Recognition is definitely due.

I love the redesign, it’s so… slick. It gives the vault this completely different feel, I love it.
waaaaaay better!
nice one…
only comment i could make so far would be 2 check the difference in width of the div: ” between IE and moz.
quite drastically different on some pages…
otherwise really aesthetically pleasing.
nice.
damn… didn’t show…
i meant the difference in width of the div classed “fullcol”
Definitely a step up from the last. This design, whilst the content appears to be more is still the same, and manages to organize it very well indeed.
An excellent design from what seems to be a new company, DesignDisease.
This is one of my favorite color combinations. And it was put to good use in this re-design of the css vault. Overall, I think the new design gives it a cleaner more pleasing touch.
I am really glad they have an easy to find contact button. Oh wait, they don’t! In fact, I can’t find any for of contacting them besides a site submission whatsoever.
I wanted to contact them and let them know their google ad placement/mockup I guess does not work. It uses Pound symbols (#) for the links.
Thanks for the compliments everyone!
Bryan - The site is not 100% completely done being redesigned, I announced in the news there might be some temporary problems(like the Google filler ad). I still have some other modifications to make(like adding contact info).
Thanks for the post Ryan. I appreciate it.
My only suggestion would be to maybe use the sliding door technique in the navigation. That way you dont get the slow image loading on the rollover.
Well lately I have been staying away from the dislike/like thing, but I guess if I were to mention one thing I would change…it is the navigation. Not so much experiencing the slow loading image; but an active seems to be in need.
Not only to indicate where you currently are, but also to provide a little bit more contrast up there; because at certain monitor settings the navigation text does blend in quite a bit with the actual background image. Other than that an all around terrific job, and that isn’t even something dire; just preference and being anal retentive.
Oh and since this layout; I have now dubbed baby blue offically pimp again, it got played out, but the header image reminded me its still almost as pimp as pink :P
I, along with the others, definitely feel that the navigation could be touched up a bit. The typeface and perhaps it’s color (and hover color) could fit more with the overall feel that the design yields.
As far as the color scheme goes, I think it’s a definite improvement from the older muted one before the apparent management switch.
I’m definitely liking the new layout of the content much more than the previous design.
