EMOTIONS by Mike
![]()
I love a site that’s so unique that the design stays in your mind long after you’ve gone away. EMOTIONS by Mike was one of those sites for me. It’s simple, clean, and very visually appealing. Definitely a great showpiece for his talent.
My only real knock is that virtually none of the images have an ALT attribute. Turn images off, and you’re unable to navigate the site at all. Not that being able to navigate a site that’s all about the images would be much use anyway, but it seems like a minor tweak that would make a big difference. (I also could have used some rollover effects on the links, but that’s just me.)
Other than that, I’m a huge fan of this design. What do you think?

I like the color scheme and layout of this one, but yeah — ALT attributes would really complete things.
I love this site when I see an image of it. It looks great and is very appealing on the eye.
But as you noted when you actually use the site it’s a different matter. The usuability just doesn’t feel there. Rollovers are a must these days, they really give a feel for where you are on the site, and if something is clickable or not.
And as mentioned, alts are needed. Otherwise, very nice.
I love the bright contrasting colors and the ease of navigation and viewing the work, however pop-ups are old and need to go!
As soon as this site loaded I was almost positive the creator was female and it screamed feminine to me right at the start… however after reading “I’m Mike, a freelance web graphic designer” it just doesn’t do it for me at all.
Mike iz da best.period.
This is such a well-designed site. It conveys such a sense of style, elegance and whimsy. Well done!
Cool! ;)
