Fresh2Cook

Well, I don’t want Ryan to think that there’s only one of us helping out with Unmatched Style. Khaled’s done a great job in featuring a couple of lovely entries but I think we all need a break from sites with design-oriented backgrounds:)
Fresh2Cook is an example of a site which, on the surface, doesn’t appear too extravagant. Where’s the flash header? Where’s the AJAXian loveliness? Where’s the CSS magic? And that I think is the whole point. Stewart Curry has shown an understanding of what Fresh2Cook is all about and has eschewed complexity for clean, well thought out simplicity.
There’s the lovely colour scheme at play; organic with clever touches of colour as you’d expect from a nice dish. The layout and the elements exhibits a calm balance and manages to be big and bold without being in your face. I love how there is an appreciation of what the site is for; to showcase the food and the freshness and simplicity of the food.
If design could talk, you can almost imagine it saying in a quiet, unassuming voice “You know, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be clever”.

Why are they using image tags for the gradient borders on the front page? They should be using background images.
Really nice looking site with a great colour scheme.
