Wow, long time no Gallery entry. I’ve just hit a very noticeable lull in finding great sites, whether it’s through the submit a site form or on my own. I’ve seen lots of really good sites (and far more really bad ones), but few that have really jumped out right away.
Jen Gordon’s site was one that had to grow on me. I’ve been back several times since I first saw it, and I like it more each time I go back. I’m particularly a fan of the unique color scheme. Definitely think it deserves a shot at the Gallery.
Be sure to take time to view the whole site and not just the homepage. The design is richer the deeper you go.

im getting tired from all cliches of “web2″ its nothing but another “sweet” css based blog-portfolio-and-whatever website with no concrete purpose. dont get angry at me, its my opinion and if it doesnt match yours it doesnt means im wrong or right. just all it getting boooring
I’m right there with you, deck2. I have seen so many sites over the past two weeks who thought they might belong in the Gallery simply because they redesigned their blog to look like everyone else’s today. It was really cool a year ago, but now everyone’s doing it, so it’s no longer unique.
Jen’s site definitely has a lot of those newer elements, but it’s so much more than that. She simply used that as a foundation to build on. That’s not at all apparent if you don’t go deeper into the site, though, so that’s why I highly recommend spending some time there.
This is great, but the footer is a rip-off of http://www.briangardner.com/themes/vertigo-wordpress-theme.htm - I use it on my site - http://ianapplegate.co.uk/
Ian, I’ve seen 1,000 other sites that look just as similar to her footer and yours. That whole three-tiered thing as a whole has been done almost to death, but I wouldn’t call it a “rip-off” by any means.
my immediate sense of the color scheme was that it didn’t quiet look right…. brown and blue, dunno.
The graphic design is good however, making up for the standard-seen-it-too-often layout.
