Justin Shattuck

I’m virtually positive that Justin Shattuck’s WordPress Blog is my new #1 favorite design. Good grief this thing is nice.
First of all, this is the Holy Grail for me. There’s not a single rounded corner on the whole stinking site, yet it looks fantastic. I hate implementing rounded corners so I always — to no avail — try to get away without them. Justin’s design proves that square corners can look just as great.
Next is the great, unique color scheme, the readability, the great fonts, the phenomenal layout…sheesh, I could go on and on.
A big standing ovation to designers, DesignDisease. Really well done.

What about Veerle’s Blog? Look at the similarities? Colors?
http://veerle.duoh.com/
I agree with B, palette is too similar to such a well known site. Atleast there could have been some color variations in the mix for that take.
@B and Brady J. Frey:
Actually this final color schema was based off three other schemes that Elena and I had discussed. I’m positive Elena did not “rip” the scheme from Veerle’s blog, however, after looking it is quite similar. I still appreciate the kind words for the site itself.
This was an absolutely fantastic project to get Elena involved in. After three mock ups and modifications she really hit what was wanted dead on.
I like the design but it looks very obviously based on the Hemingway wordpress layout?
@adam: Other than the fact that it has a third section at the bottom of the page, I see almost no resemblance between it and Hemingway.
Do you see something that makes you think otherwise?
Funny, I just went from Hemingway to Salmon (on ExpressionEngine). It “felt” like hemingway with a sidebar; still, it’s a brilliant design. Incredibly simple, puts the emphasis on readability and just oozes class.
It’s my favourite traditional “blog” design yet; although I am a big fan of the magazine designs by rockstars like Adii and Brian Gardener.
