LifeHut

LifeHut’s design is as great as its content. For example, I guess I’ve been mowing the lawn improperly (not at all). Now thanks to LifeHut when it finally rains and the grass isn’t so dead, I might be able to have a lawn that resembles one.

However, it’s not just the content. Of course not. Unmatched Style focuses on designs, and LifeHut has a nice one. Point blank, the imagery is everything on this site; more specifically the header. Without the header starting back at you, you still have a nice design, but not like the one you are looking at right now.

Another true success behind this design is that it follows the theme of the word “hut” very well. The header does a fantastic job of portraying this, but it is sewn throughout the whole design as well. The background looks like some sort of pale stone that could be a walkway to the hut, and the colors fit the idea famously. A fantastic design for another great GTD site!

    Very creative site! The header is very effective to illustrate the addy. The colors match very well with the idea being desplayed. It’s hard to use an “unnatural” color, but you did great with it!

    The site design is very nice. As mentioned above the header is fantastic. However, I’m concerned about content. Who are you? The about section tells me nothing about who you are and why I should be taking advice about my own life from you. Do you have a P.H.D.? I notice you have parenting tips, are you yourself a parent? I’m reluctant to spend time reading articles written by some computer whack job trying to give me advice on my life. I would specify who you are, even if it is just some guy trying to pass on lessons he’s learned.

    I am a soon to be parent (meaning my wife is pregnant), but I will admit, most of my ‘advice’ is from lessons I have learned. I should clarify that.

    Very innovative use of colors and layout. Your site is great — but one suggestion - need the text in the “small blurb” at the top be an image?

    Hey Preston.

    Yea, it does because to get the overlapping effect efficiently, I decided that doing a transparent PNG was just going to be too much of a hassle. I probably need to add some alternative text in a hidden span to be honest.

    I think the design it quite cute - and yes the colors too. :-) One thing that kind of throws me, though, is the main content in the left-hand column. It seems weighted a little strangely - like the text size is too large, or the padding is too small.

    The site turned out great, thanks for letting me critique it before it went live, beta testing is fun! I plugged LifeHut on my site, to hopefully get the word out about this helpful and humorous site.

    By header you mean that giant graphic that should be html text?

    By content, do you mean that regurgitated crap that exists solely for adsense?

    Can’t please everyone.

    In regards to the header. I thought about making it text, but realized it would have been too far a pain in the ass, especially with the grass hut top covering parts of the words (I did think about it though).

    In regards to the content. Well the site is fairly new. Regurgitated? Hrm…I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that one. I reference several sites for several different articles, which MANY website’s do anyways.

    Oh, and I apologize that I placed ads on my website. God forbid I try to make any kind of money, regardless of whether my content is crap or quality.
