Lillja
Lillja may live up to one of my stereotypes of Band Sites — they all have black backgrounds — but that’s where it ends. I usually stereotype the sites of band by putting them in the category of: ugly, awful, inaccessible, unusable and overall garbage.
Lillja’s site is none of these. In fact it is very simplistic but well styled at the same time. I’m always weary when I see designs using images for navigation, as it is fine, but most people don’t take the CSS Image replacement method when using image based navigation. Fortunately that is not the case for Lillja.
The overall look of this site just speaks to me. I haven’t seen something along the lines of this design in a while and if I have; it hasn’t been done right. So when I took a look at this and noticed that it not only looked good, but worked as well as it looked; I realized that another stereotype had been broken: not all band sites need to be awful.

Not all band site are like that, this one is pure CSS layout, not a black background either….
For some reason I can’t get it to validate as XHTML 1.0 since we added Flash to it in the topper.

You need some Flash Satay, that’ll get it validating.
Neither is this one - www.handoffband.com
But that is one of the problems with most of them–too much Flash.
