This personal website and portfolio of Rose Fu is a really cool example of what can be done with CSS. It’s a little overdone, but that’s the point — to display exceptional skills in both design and CSS. She definitely does that. (And as you would expect, she does have her own entry in the CSS Zen Garden.)
Very nicely done.

We’ve all seen the book look before, but the effect is nicely done here. I like it.
Good point, Chris. If you’re going to use a theme that’s been done many times before, you better do it much better. She’s done a good job with it.
It’s a used style yes, but it’s not always pulled off so well.
Here I think it’s done tremendously well. Loads of little details here, there and everywhere really makes it stand out. I love the draggable post-it note on the main book page, a nice touch.
Also you mention her CSS Zen Garden entry, and although it’s a great entry. Is the Garden regarded as highly as what it once was. IMO it’s not, you hear less and less about it all the time. Personally, I never thought much of it. Just wanted to know others thoughts…
In my mind, it was always 100% about what could be done with CSS — in most cases not at all practical, more of a show-off contest (in a good way).
It’s quite nice, has a good organic feel to it and a nice mood. It reminds me of one of my favourite sites to use a book layout - http://www.chanelcole.com.au/
I like this web site design. especially text version which is very clean and easy interface.
fantastic site. well made.
