Squidfingers

Squidfingers is the online home of Travis Beckham. I first discovered Squidfingers several years back when I was perusing the Web for some background patterns. Beckham had some amazing stuff, so I bookmarked him right away. Today, his site has been redesigned to better reflect his vast skillset and ability to cross mediums with his artwork.
Beckham’s history on the Web lies in his (no longer available) DHTML code snippits and his background patterns. When I found his site years ago, not many would have guessed he was just as talented off the grid (on paper). know his artwork extended into hand drawings. His recently redesigned website showcases that very well now, showing off his multifaceted skills found in his portfolio.
With clientele the likes of Lee Jeans and Wal-Mart, Beckham better have his design skills in the bag. The new Squidfingers has the color scheme reminiscent of a deep-sea ocean view— 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea comes to mind. Three minor variations in the layout show the ability of the site’s design to adapt and better showcase the particular page’s content.
With that in mind, it’s Squidfingers’ unmatched flexibility and embodiment of deep-sea imagery that make it gallery worthy.

Squidfingers has always been one of my favorite resource sites. I saw his redesign a few months (or so) back — I thought it was pure genius, and the color scheme felt well put together. I love the pagination for the patterns section. :) ‘Twould have been better if the splash extended all the way down the page, or at least gradually disappearing.
Angela, I couldn’t agree more. I love the way the rest of the site flows so well together. The background being overlayed by the perfectly positioned grey space, but I can’t help but feel skimped a bit due to the splash. I’m a huge fan of the navigation. The typography adds so much to it.
