10 Questions with Tradingeye’s Wladimir Baranoff-Rossine

If you’ve been to the site lately, you’ve noticed the ads for Tradingeye. I had a chance to chat today with Tradingeye’s managing director, Wladimir Baranoff-Rossine, and wanted to share that with anyone of you who might be wondering about who they are and what they do.

In the simplest terms, what is Tradingeye?
An XHTML/CSS/WCAG shopping cart & CMS. One of the first!

Who would want to use Tradingeye?
Retailers or web developers wanting to provide a standards-compliant cart and all the benefits which come with web standards.

How much PHP skill do I need to get it up and running?
None, as all the design is done through the CSS. You only need to know PHP if you want to customise additional features such as new promotions or postage modules for example.

Check out the stylesheet switcher on www.tradingeye-demo.com.

So would you say that any experienced web designer should be able to integrate Tradingeye into their site with no problem?
Yes, but as Tradingeye has a built in CMS, it is your site. No point having one site and then a cart.

So Tradingeye is more than just a cart, it’s an end-to-end solution for building an ecommerce site. Can I use the cart without the CMS?
Absolutely! And the site can be designed to look more like a shop or like a website. And the CMS will be free in around 2 weeks time!

That’s excellent! Is the Tradingeye site itself built with the CMS?
No, but it will be in around 2 weeks, and yes we will be submitting it to Unmatched Style.

Ha! I’ll be looking for it

Where can we see some examples of sites that use Tradingeye?

The first link is our own portfolio, but in 2 weeks we will also be featuring developer work.

So the CMS will be free in a couple of weeks. Is the Light version of the cart also free?
No, just the CMS. Shop Light and Pro will be paid, but we do have 50% off for developers.

If UMS readers have more questions, what’s the best place to get answers?
www.tradingeye.com or email me at info[at]tradingeye[dot]com.

Perfect. Thanks for your time today!
