Check Out ReviewMe
I know most of the people visiting this site have their own blog. In fact many of you have more than one, and some of them get way more traffic than this site does.
If you’re looking to make some extra cash with your blog, I’m sure you’re running AdSense. That’s a no-brainer. I just found out about a new service today, though, that looks like it could be a much bigger money-maker than AdSense (or any other easy revenue stream).
It’s called ReviewMe. The site is an online marketplace where advertisers looking for bloggers to review their products can meet up with bloggers who are willing to review products. The advertisers pay a fee once the review is written. (Just like ReviewMe is paying me to write this one.)
My first response to this was, “Nice, but I’m not selling out my blog space to review something I don’t believe in just to get a little cash.” Obviously, though, since you’re reading this, something changed my mind.
First, I realized that I wasn’t obligated to review anything I didn’t like. No one’s asking me to lie and say that I liked something that I actually didn’t.
Second, I love to let people know about things that a) I found really useful and b) they might not know about yet. If I can get paid to do that, that’s just icing on the cake.
So I like the concept, but how’s the execution?
In a word: fantastic.
The site could not be easier to navigate around and understand. I was click-click-clicking with absolutely no effort. Some of the menu items could be labeled a little bit better, but once I found out that clicking Bloggers always took me back to my home, I was set.
Adding your blogs is super easy, too. In less than 10 minutes, I had added 5 of them.
One especially nice feature is that they tell you right away how much they’ll pay you for a review on the blog you just entered. That makes it easy to, say, remove one of the 5 you just entered because it’s not worth what they’re paying to spend the time reviewing a product.
The other great advantage I see to this is it’s a great way for lower-tier bloggers (i.e. not your TechCrunches or Engadgets of the world) to get access to sites and products like the big boys.
So take a look and let me know what you think. I’ll probably keep you updated, too, as I use the site more and more. I’m very interested to see if it lives up to its promise.
